Why NRIs in the UK still need an Indian PAN card
· 5 min read

A PAN (Permanent Account Number) is the standard Indian tax identifier. Even if you live in the UK, you may need one to sell or let property, open or operate NRE/NRO accounts, settle capital gains, or complete certain inheritance steps.
NRIs apply using form 49AA (not the resident 49A). Photo and signature rules are strict — we format both to channel specifications before submission.
Delivery and timelines
E-PAN is usually issued first; the physical card follows to your UK address. Timelines vary by channel workload — we set expectations when you book.
