Indian missions in the UK

Consular jurisdiction for Indian documents

The UK is split into three consular regions. Your home postcode decides which mission and VFS centre you must use — not personal preference. Wrong centre bookings are a common cause of delay.

1. What is consular jurisdiction?

Each region is served by a designated office for passports, OCI, and related consular work. The three UK bases are London, Birmingham, and Edinburgh.

2. Typical coverage (confirm with VFS for your postcode)

  • London — Greater London, South East and South West England, Wales, and Northern Ireland (broadly). Includes centres such as London (Goswell Road and Hounslow), Cardiff, and Belfast.
  • Birmingham — Midlands, North West, Yorkshire and the Humber, and parts of North Wales. Includes Birmingham, Manchester, Leicester, Liverpool, Bradford, and similar VFS posts.
  • Edinburgh — Scotland. Includes Edinburgh and Glasgow VFS.

3. Why it matters

Submitting under the wrong jurisdiction can mean refused appointments or returned files. We confirm the correct centre from your address before you pay for a service that includes VFS booking.
