OCI link before you fly: a practical UK checklist

If your British passport number has changed, your OCI record must reflect the new passport before you rely on it at check-in. For most adults between 20 and 50 with no name change, OCI Link is the correct route — completed online in typical cases without a VFS visit.
Matrix NRI uploads a compliant package to the portal within 24–48 hours of receiving clear scans. The High Commission then processes the update; many clients travel while processing continues using our upload confirmation together with both passports.
Documents we usually ask for
New passport biodata page, previous passport biodata page (if available), and both sides of your OCI card. Photos and signatures must match current portal rules — incorrect dimensions or signature ratio are the most common rejection reasons.
When linking is not enough
Applicants under 20, name changes, lost or damaged OCI cards, or a major change in appearance usually require OCI Miscellaneous with a VFS appointment. If you are unsure, ask on WhatsApp first — we confirm the correct service before you pay.
